Farrell AC cost guide

AC filter replacement: what should you budget?

A standard filter swap, specialty media replacement and a multi-system maintenance visit are different jobs. We match the filter to the equipment and separate materials from the visit scope.

What the work covers

  • The specified number, size and type of filters when Farrell supplies them.
  • Replacement labor and any listed maintenance tasks.

What may be separate

  • Specialty media, UV lamps and additional systems unless listed.
  • A diagnostic visit, repairs or a new filter cabinet.
  • Customer-supplied filters, which require a separate labor scope.

What changes the price?

  • Filter dimensions, media type and quantity.
  • One accessible filter versus multiple equipment locations.
  • A standalone visit or filter work during scheduled maintenance.

Behind the planning guidance

How we checked the prices.

Ten completed filter-related jobs from December 2024 through September 2026 were reviewed: four itemized replacement jobs and six maintenance/filter packages. They included multiple filter sizes, quantities, add-on work and commercial equipment. A $25 three-filter add-on to an existing tune-up and a $540 quarterly package do not establish the price of a standalone household filter visit.

10 distinct completed records were reviewed for this service. Subgroups have smaller samples, as described above. This is a selected scope review, not a statistical average. We do not publish customer details. A historical discount or an older price is not a current promotion.

Questions worth asking.

Why not use a maintenance invoice as the price of a filter?

A maintenance invoice may include several filters, multiple systems, inspections and cleaning. Those charges do not establish the cost of one replacement filter. We identify the parts and visit work separately.

Can I provide my own filters?

Ask us to confirm the correct size and type for your equipment. If you supply them, the written scope should distinguish the labor from the equipment or materials you purchased.
